Texas 'fight club' defendant sentenced to 4 years

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - A Texas man who helped orchestrate fights among developmentally disabled residents at a state-run school has been sentenced to four years in prison.

A jury Thursday also sentenced 23-year-old D'Angelo Riley to eight years probation for his role in what police called a "fight club" at the Corpus Christi State School.

Riley pleaded guilty in July to three counts of injury to a disabled person.

Almost 20 videos of fights at the school dating to 2007 were discovered in March on a phone found at a clothing store. It was later given to police.

'Ringleader'
The videos showed night staff instigating fights at a dorm, even kicking residents and telling them what to do.

Prosecutors call Riley a "ringleader" and say he provided play-by-play commentary to the recorded fights.
