JetBlue to launch 2 new routes to Jamaica

NEW YORK - JetBlue Airways Corp. said Tuesday it has requested government approval to launch two new routes to Montego Bay, Jamaica from Orlando, Fla. and Boston.

It expects to start service from Boston on Jan. 9, 2010 and from Orlando on Feb. 8, 2010.

In addition to its two new Jamaican routes, JetBlue said it also plans to increase service on its existing route between Montego Bay and its home base at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport over the winter holidays, offering up to 11 weekly flights on this popular route.

JetBlue previously announced it will begin flights between New York and Kingston, Jamaica on Oct. 30.

JetBlue currently operates about 71 daily flights to the Caribbean.

Shares ended up 19 cents, or 3.5 percent, to $5.69.
