JC Penney employee Nadia Acevedo said she saw the small passenger plane in the parking lot near her store. The front end of the plane appeared to be damaged.

The pilot was being treated by paramedics and appeared to be conscious, she said.

Television footage showed the plane with minimal damage surrounded by fire-retardant foam.

There were no other injuries or damage reported from the accident.

The landing marked the third incident in New Jersey this month involving a small plane. On Friday, a plane crashed near Teterboro airport while trying to land.

Earlier this month, a small plane collided with a tour helicopter over the Hudson River near Hoboken, killing nine. That plane also left from Teterboro.

Check back later for more details on this developing story.
