The Real Deal: Seven nights' hotel accommodations; one night camping in the desert; eight breakfasts and one dinner; admission to the Jerash Temple of Artemis; a day trip to the Dead Sea; a drive along the King's Highway; admission to Madaba, Mount Nebo, Karak Castle, and Petra; a horseback ride in Petra; transportation by a private van and a bus; hotel taxes; and the services of an English-speaking tour leader and local guides, from $999 per person—including all taxes.

The fine print: Airfare is not included. The starting rate includes a local cash payment of $200. Airport-hotel transfers by taxi are $56–$70 each way and can take anywhere from 20 minutes to one hour, depending on traffic.
