Everything irie? Maybe with surveillance

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Police in Jamaica plan to install dozens of surveillance cameras to fight crime in the popular tourist town of Ocho Rios.

Superintendent Gary Griffiths says the cameras will be installed in public places such as bus stops by March. Cameras also will be set up in small nearby towns.

Griffiths said Thursday he did not know how much the project will cost.

Cameras already have been set up in crime hotspots such as Kingston, Montego Bay and May Pen.

The island of 2.8 million people has one of the world's highest murder rates. More than 1,600 people were killed last year.
