CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico - Gunmen killed five bar patrons in drug-plagued Ciudad Juarez, across the border from El Paso, Texas, Mexican officials said Friday.
The Chihuahua state prosecutor's spokesman Vladimir Tuexi said police found the bodies in the Amsterdam bar, in a zone popular with U.S. tourists.
Elsewhere, the Defense Department said two gunmen were killed in separate attacks on soldiers in Guerrero and Tamaulipas states.
In the Gulf Coast state of Tabasco, federal prosecutors issued arrest warrants for seven police officers suspected of working for the Gulf cartel.
Drug violence has killed more than 11,000 people since President Felipe Calderon launched his drug fight in 2006.
