MIAMI - A tropical storm has formed far off Mexico's Pacific coast, while Hurricane Carlos weakened far out at sea.
National Hurricane Center forecasters in Florida said Wednesday that the new storm, named Dolores, has maximum sustained winds of about 45 mph and is moving away from land at about 9 mph.
Carlos is also in the open Pacific. It has lost strength and is now a tropical storm after becoming a Category 2 hurricane on Tuesday.
The storm became a Category 1 hurricane on Saturday but its strength has been fluctuating.
