GROSSOSTHEIM, Germany - A family of three evaded what could have been a major, if not fatal, mishap after a sport biplane doing loops flew too low and collided with their car.

Police in the town of Grossostheim, about 40 miles southeast of Frankfurt, said the plane's pilot was performing aerial acrobatic maneuvers when it flew too low and failed to pull up in time, striking the family's car near the small air field.

Amateur video obtained by AP Television News shows the impact of Sunday's collision, which tore the bottom frame off the airplane and left it and the car in the nearby field.

Police said Tuesday the married couple and their daughter inside the car escaped with minor injuries, as did the pilot.
