PHILADELPHIA - A lawyer for a fired airline worker says he is "mortified" at the lapse in judgment that led him to help a friend get an unloaded gun on a plane.

Roshid Milledge faces a possible six months in prison after pleading guilty to a related weapons charge in federal court Friday.

The 38-year-old Philadelphia man had worked for US Airways for four years.

Defense lawyer Carina Laguzzi says Milledge regrets embarrassing his family and causing delays at the airport.

She says Milledge never went through security when he carried Damien Young's bag to a gate June 4.

The FBI says the two men then switched bags and Young briefly had the gun on board before authorities took him off the flight.

Young has also pleaded guilty.
