Pasta sauce is very economical, and just about everyone has a jar of marinara in their pantry. For these tasty uses of pasta sauce, the more ragu the better. (Don't go for the cheesy, chunky kind.) It's what you add that transforms the sauce into an entirely new meal.

Cocktail sauce
Food Network Magazine

This is a great alternative to buying the real thing. If you buy cocktail sauce at the grocery story, often you end up using just a couple tablespoons and tossing it. There's no need to be wasteful. Just mix pasta sauce with horseradish and hot sauce to your liking and you have an excellent cocktail sauce.

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 cups pasta sauce
3 tablespoons drained bottled horseradish (or to taste)
hot sauce
juice of 1/2 lemon
