They’ve yet to confirm a relationship, but Madonna is reportedly planning to travel to Brazil for a formal introduction to her “friend” Jesus Luz’s parents.

“Madonna is getting serious, so that’s why she wants to meet his family,” a friend told In Touch magazine. “Madonna has been growing closer to Jesus every day. The big age difference doesn’t mean a thing to her.”

Meanwhile, there’s still no word on whether Madonna will be able to adopt Mercy James from Malawi. Her rep Liz Rosenberg says there’s no truth to new rumors that Madonna might try to adopt from another African country, but “we remain ever hopeful that Madonna will be allowed to adopt Mercy.”

Keeping tabs
Us Weekly put a Gosselin on the cover for the seventh consecutive week, but the rest of the weeklies abandoned Jon, Kate and the kids, at least where main cover images are concerned.

Instead, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie snagged most of the real estate, appearing on the covers of Star, In Touch and People, which ultimately is the best of all the offerings.

What sets People apart: the headline is definitive. People has the authority to attach the headline “The Real Story” to the Jolie-Pitts, and they go on to set the record straight about rumors of a meeting between Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. The other cover elements are spot on, too: David Carradine and Kate Gosselin were definitely the stories of the week.

Kirstie Alley wants to lose weight, add reality
Former “Fat Actress” star Kirstie Alley has gained 85 pounds since stepping down as a Jennie Craig spokeswoman in February 2008. Alley’s strategy to get the weight off: a reality show, natch.

The show will “have lots of emotion and show her struggle to lose the weight,” reports Life & Style. Should the show go forward, success isn’t necessarily a guarantee, based on Alley’s fan base. The magazine quotes an insider as saying, “A show like ‘The Biggest Loser’ has a huge following built in, but I don’t know if Kirstie has that fan base right now.”

With filming for the sequel to “Sex and the City: The Movie” due to begin this August, it would seem like a good time to get the scripts to Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis.

Us Weekly reports that writer-director Michael Patrick King just turned his screenplay in to New Line Cinema on June 8, saying, “I will be thrilled to deliver the sequel scripts to our four amazing stars just as soon as I finish checking them for typos!”
