‘Dancing’ mirror ball trophies break in transit

Reality show is repairing trophies for Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas

Even the "Dancing With the Stars" hosts poke fun at the mirror ball trophies, awarded this year to gymnast Shawn Johnson and pro dancer Mark Ballas. But as silly as the trophies looks, they were still expected to last.

LOS ANGELES - If one broken mirror means seven years of bad luck, "Dancing With the Stars" champs Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas could be facing centuries of misfortune.

When the dancing partners opened their respective mirror ball trophies after a cross-country trip, each was broken.

Ballas says the trophies broke during a flight from New York.

ABC says the mirror balls are being repaired. Johnson, 17, and Ballas were crowned winners of the hit show's eighth season last month.
