Jet hits turbulence, injuring 21

Miami-bound Brazilian airliner took sharp dive, sending fliers into ceiling

RIO DE JANEIRO - A Brazilian jet liner traveling from Miami ran into rough turbulence, injuring 21 people on board.

Passengers said the plane twice went into a sharp dive Monday night, slamming people into the ceiling of the cabin. Three people suffered broken bones.

TAM flight 8095 landed safely in Sao Paulo about 30 minutes later, the airline said Tuesday.

Three people remained hospitalized.
