Veteran journalist Chris Jansing hosts “Jansing and Co.” weekdays from 10 am – 11 p.m. ET on msnbc.

Jansing joined NBC News in June 1998 as an NBC News correspondent and anchor for msnbc.  Since then, she has reported on countless major new events, including the Torino and Vancouver Olympics, the deaths of Michael Jackson and John F. Kennedy, Jr., and the Columbine shootings. Jansing has traveled everywhere from Iceland to Afghanistan in pursuit of major stories, including the death of Pope John Paul II and the election of Pope Benedict. She’s also reported from the 2000 and 2004 Presidential campaign trails, anchoring coverage from both the national conventions as well as the Presidential Inaugurations.  

Jansing’s reporting duties also extend to NBC News, including her frequent work as a correspondent for “Dateline NBC,” as well as substitute anchor for “Weekend Today” and the Sunday edition of “NBC Nightly News.” In the past, Jansing hosted primetime specials for msnbc, including “Battleground America,” “Return to Space,” and “The Ethical Edge.” She also served NBC News for two years as a California-based correspondent for NBC’s “TODAY” and “Nightly News.”

Before joining the NBC News team, Jansing co-anchored the nightly news for WNYT-TV Albany, where she started as a general assignment reporter in 1981. 
From 1980 to 1981, Jansing was a radio anchor and reporter for WTRY-AM in Schenectady.  Prior to that, she was an anchor for WOKO-AM in Albany and WIPS-AM in Ticonderoga, NY. Throughout her extensive career, Jansing has received numerous awards for excellence in journalism, including an Emmy for her coverage of the 1996 Olympic bombing in Atlanta, and a “Best Documentary” award from the New York State Broadcasters Association for “In The Land of Plenty,” a report on hunger in New York state. 

In addition, Jansing has received many community service awards for her commitment to children.  A native of Fairport Harbor, Ohio, Jansing graduated from Otterbein College with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism.
