Prom on a budget?

Send us your video, photos or personal reports

I am on the left. My whole "prom look" cost about a total of $50. went to my prom about two weeks ago on April 25th. I remember finding a gorgeous dress on Nordstrom by Aiden Mattox that I had to have - then I saw the price: $300. With the way the economy is now and how my family is trying so hard to save money I knew I couldn't ask my mom if I could purchase the dress for my senior prom. But about mid-March my friend offered up her dress from last year that she wore to another prom. I immediately accepted the offer (I had seen pictures and the dress was pretty - but not as nearly as pretty as the one I wanted). She was the same size as me, so the dress fit perfectly. That was it - I managed to save so much money on prom this year and spent a total of $50. I borrowed a dress; used my gold shoes and clutch from last year; wore my mom's jewelry; and had my best friend's cousin do my hair and makeup for free. So if any one is stressing about prom and what to do, don't! So good luck and have fun :) -- S.C.
