LOS ANGELES - Rosie O’Donnell has joined a growing list of celebrities touched by the story of “Britain’s Got Talent” star Susan Boyle.
The former “View” moderator, who had been taking a break from her Rosie.com blog, hit her Web site on Sunday to champion the Scottish singer.
“Susan Boyle — once in a lifetime,” O'Donnell wrote in a poem about the woman who rose to overnight fame after her performance of “I Dreamed A Dream,” from the musical “Les Miserables,” was put on YouTube. “Authentic real, the kind of tv we hardly see anymore in r pre packaged world.”
O'Donnell wrote that she was pleased that Boyle, who was poked fun of by the judges on “Britain’s Got Talent,” before she opened her mouth, stood out for her talent over her looks.
“Out she came, like Fiona in shrek, reminding us all how to shine inside,” O'Donnell wrote.
O'Donnell added that she hopes Boyle steers clear of a stylist in the future.
“Susan boyle, a woman i hope never gets a make over, her brows forever bushy, reminding the world, where beauty lives,” Rosie wrote.
And Boyle herself said she has no plans to change her looks at present.
“Maybe I’ll consider a makeover later on,” she told the Times of London. “For now I’m happy the way I am — short and plump. I would not go in for Botox or anything like that. I’m content with the way I look. What’s wrong with looking like Susan Boyle? What’s the matter with that?”
But while O'Donnell and Boyle are content with her appearance, Access readers voted in favor of a makeover for the YouTube sensation.
When asked, “Should ‘Britain’s got Talent’s’ Susan Boyle get a makeover?” our readers responded 61% to 39% to “Bring on the stylist! She deserves it!”
And it was the most voted-upon poll ever on AccessHollywood.com.
