NEW YORK - Madonna is dropping $40 million on a massive New York City mansion.

The pop queen just signed a contract to purchase a multi-million dollar Georgian Townhouse in the “Gossip Girl” approved playground of Manhattan’s Upper East Side, according to the NY Post, which first reported the story.

“The townhouse is perfect for Madonna,” a source told the paper. “She’s trying to recreate London in New York City, and this is in the style of a London townhouse.”

The property, which features 36 rooms across 12,000 sq. ft, is one of the most expensive properties purchased in the area, a broker told the paper.

“[No home in that area] has ever sold for $20 million, let alone $30 million — or ever will again,” the broker said.

In addition, the property contains a 3,000-sq. ft. garden, a two-car garage and nine fireplaces.

But, the residence isn’t a quiet, serene estate.

According to another source, those inside the property can hear subway trains through the floors.
