McConaughey recalls singing with jail pals

What better way to ease into the weekend than with the enlightened worldview of Matthew McConaughey, who graces the cover of Men’s Journal?

In the accompanying interview, no topic is verboten, not even his awkward (and naked) arrest for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in October 1999. Austin, Texas, police responded to a noise disturbance call and found the actor dancing naked and playing bongo drums. He was arrested for possession of marijuana and resisting arrest, but the drug charges were later dropped.

McConaughey says the night of the arrest “was real enjoyable until I looked up and saw someone in the house who I knew I hadn’t invited.” (That would be the police.)

“(Things became) less enjoyable when he (the police officer) was tryin’ to pin me to the ground and I was fightin’ back,” the magazine recounts.

That did not spoil the evening however, as there were friends to be made — in jail. “It sucked when I was goin’ into the jail, and once I got in jail it became enjoyable again because there were some real fun cellmates. We were singin’ songs,” he said.

“I believe that in life you make your own luck,” she told Life & Style. “We’re no more likely to fail than anyone else. It’s just more emphasized.”

Specifically, Zarin told the magazine that LuAnn de Lesseps’ marriage was “going to disintegrate” anyway, that Alex McCord lost her job “because of the economy,” and if Kelly Bensimon’s boyfriend was dropped as a Saks model because Bensimon allegedly hit him, Bensimon “caused her own problem.”

Kanye responds to ‘South Park’
Rapper Kanye West took a beating during the April 8 episode of “South Park.”

The cartoon took aim at West’s alleged ego problem, and his feelings are hurt.

According to an April 9 posting (originally written in all caps, it’s worth noting): “I actually have been working on my ego though. Having the crazy ego is played out at this point in my life and career ... I just want to be a doper person which starts with me not always telling people how dope I think I am.”

Weekend box office
Three wide releases hit theaters this weekend. “Hannah Montana: The Movie” sounds like the one to beat. It opens in 3,118 locations, and although only 32% of those who responded to the Scoop text survey said they’d be seeing it this weekend, its appeal among girls 7-13 should help immensely.

The other contenders include dark comedy “Observe and Report,” which stars Seth Rogen (though that’s what 59% of text responders says they’ll see) and “Dragonball Evolution.”

All that said, the winner overall, I predict, will be “Fast and Furious,” for a second week in a row.
