List of recalled pistachio products

Setton Pistachio, the nation's second-largest pistachio processor which sells nuts to Kraft Foods and 35 other wholesalers across the country, has recalled more than 2 million pounds of nuts over fears of possible salmonella contamination.

No illnesses have been reported yet, but the following recalls have been announced because the products, which were distributed by the California nut processor, may be contaminated with the organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems:

Island Snacks is recalling chile lemon pistachios. No illnesses have been reported. The pistachios were available at retail stores in California, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Nevada, West Virginia, Colorado, Kentucky, New York, Alabama and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The recalled items have UPC number 40129-20110-0 and an expiration date of May 2010. Details: by phone at 714-994-1228.

The Swiss Colony Inc. is recalling certain products containing in-shell pistachios. No known illnesses have been reported, according to the company.

The recalled products were distributed from August 2008 to March 31 this year. They were sold nationwide. For more information, consumers can call 800-991-4442 or visit http://www.swisscolony.com.

The recall includes:

• 1 pound sack o' pistachios, red and natural, in-shell, salted pistachios in cloth or burlap bag; lot numbers: 6933, 6995, 7325; item/order numbers: 8, AB008, AG008, AC008, AR008, BR008.
• 1.5 pound sack o' pistachios, red and natural, in-shell, salted pistachios in cloth or burlap bag; lot number: 6995; item/order numbers: 741, AG741, AR741.
• 2 pound sack o' pistachios, red and natural, in-shell, salted pistachios in cloth or burlap bag; lot numbers: 6934, 6995, 7325; item/order numbers: 9, AB009, AG009, AC009, AR009, BR009.
• 1.5 ounce bag of red and natural, in-shell, salted pistachios. This recalled product came with an assortment of candies, cheeses, sausages and nuts in an octagon-shaped box. Lot numbers on the pistachio bag: 6942, 6949; item/order numbers: 1928, AB719, AC719, AJ719.
• 1.5 ounce bag of red and natural, in-shell, salted pistachios. This recalled product came within Santa's 78 Favorites or 78 Piece CMP, a 78 piece assortment of cheeses, coffee, sausages, cookies, nuts, candies and more. Lot numbers on the pistachio bag: 6942, 6949; item/order numbers: 688, AB688, AC688, AG688, AR688.

Osage Pecan Co. is recalling all roasted and salted in-shell pistachios sold under the Osage Pecan Co. label in 1-pound packages between Oct. 23, 2008, and April 1 this year. No illnesses related to Osage's roasted and salted in-shell pistachios have been reported, according to the company.

The recalled pistachios were sold through fundraisers in Colorado, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oregon, West Virginia and Wyoming and from the Osage store in 1-pound bags with the Osage Pecan Co. label. Whole Foods Market is recalling all code dates of some bulk and prepackaged items. There have been no illnesses reported, according to the company.

The recalled products were sold in Whole Foods Market stores in Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington D.C., Wisconsin, and Toronto, Canada.

Indian Groceries & Spices Inc. is recalling raw pistachio kernels. No illness has been reported. The recalled items were sold in Illinois, Florida, South Carolina, Ohio and Indiana between October 2008 and March 31, 2009. Details: by phone at 847-674-2480.
