MOSCOW - Police at Moscow's main international airport say they have arrested a number of baggage handlers suspected of stealing valuables from passengers' luggage.

Police spokeswoman Yelena Starkova says a series of thefts was registered from the beginning of January at Sheremetyevo Airport, and many involved a daily flight to Sharm el-Sheik, a Red Sea resort in Egypt that is popular with Russians.

Flight 1921 is operated by Nord Wind. Cameras, computers and jewelry were among the items that often went missing.

Starkova said Friday that the baggage handlers were arrested this week. She would not say how many people were arrested or give the total value of the items stolen.
