Congratulations to Herb Adams, whose picturesque image of California’s Mono Lake received the most votes in this week’s It’s A Snap photo contest.

Adams, who resides in San Dimas, Calif., snapped the picture in October. He was taking part in a natural-history trip with a group of students from Citrus College.

Adams’ friend — Bobby Goodman, a biology professor at the college — leads natural history tours all around California. “I’m a so-called T.A., but I just do the photographs,” Adams said.

His photos are compiled at naturalhistoryclass.org, and date back to 2000.

Adams noted how special Mono Lake is, saying it is one of the few lakes in the United States that doesn’t have any natural outlets.

“There is so much life in that lake — it’s unbelievable,” he said.
