A source close to Madonna says that OK! magazine, the only American magazine to publish the pictures, is also facing charges from the Material Girl over the same photos. (A rep for OK! had “no comment” and Madonna’s publicist Liz Rosenberg didn’t respond by press time.)
OK! did print a retraction that reads, in part, “It has since come to our attention that the individual who supplied the photographs to us had no right to do so and the photographs were not authorized for publication.” But the source says that the retraction won't be enough to satisfy Madonna.
Word in media circles is that OK! is trying to cut a deal with Madonna where she will never appear in the magazine again without approval.
A source close to Madonna says that won't satisfy her: "Madonna would rather have the money, nobody reads what OK! writes."
This might be jeopardizing OK!'s relationship with shows such as "Entertainment Tonight," which ran OK!'s Madonna wedding photos. The "ET" source says that as a result of the lawsuit, "we won't be working with OK! again for a very long time."
Also, according to an e-mail from an editor-in-chief of a competing magazine, who passed on the photos but has seen the legal letter from Madonna to publications, "Madonna could take them for millions. In this economy, millions could be the difference between staying in circulation or not."
PETA protests Britney Spears' 'Circus'
As if Britney Spears didn't have enough trouble in her life, now she can add PETA to the list of of her public-relations problems.
In the video for her new single "Circus," PETA claims Spears uses "cruelly trained lions and elephants even after PETA wrote to her and explained in graphic detail how trainers shock, whip, and beat exotic animals into performing."
PETA is asking fans to contact Spears and demand that she stop using exotic animals in her videos and concerts once and for all. A source close to Spears says that they're looking into the allegations, "but no animals were hurt."
Emma Watson will go naked
For the right part, that is. Yes, little Hermione Granger is content to follow in the unclothed footsteps of her costar Daniel Radcliffe (who is currently appearing nude on Broadway, in “Equus”) if it makes sense professionally, of course.
|
The actress who is reportedly looking at attending a university such as Harvard to study English, says that she'll soon have to make the choice between acting and school.
And as to whether we might see, um, more of Watson, she says "yes."
"For (acclaimed Italian director) Bernardo Bertolucci," she says. "It (going nude)... depends. I'm not getting my kit off any time soon, but it is part of my job."
