1 of 7 airline Web sites mislead, EU says

BRUSSELS, Belgium - European Union regulators say one in seven Web sites used to book flights still gives consumers misleading or wrong information.

EU Consumer Affairs Commissioner Meglena Kuneva is warning that people who shop online for flights in the 27-nation EU can still be cheated. The EU Commission is giving the airline industry until May to fall in line with EU fair practice regulations before it publicly names noncompliant companies. Those companies will also face possible court action and fines.

The Commission said Tuesday that one of three such Web sites was not in line with fair practices in September 2007, but 60 percent of those have eliminated irregularities since.
