If you've been watching TLC's "Countdown to the Crown," you might have enough info to place a Vegas bet on the winner. The rest of us will just sit at home and hope against hope that someone's talent is flaming baton twirling (Miss Oregon's is belly dance, so there's that. (Airs. Jan. 24, 8 p.m., TLC)

“Bedtime Stories’” high-concept meets actual intelligence in “Inkheart” (based on Cornelia Funke’s popular novel), which tells the story of a young girl (Eliza Bennett) whose father (Brendan Fraser) has the power to bring book characters to life. But when a villain (Andy Serkis) is freed from a novel, it’s up to Fraser to stop him. (Opens Jan. 23)
Loved "The Wrestler," and need more Mickey Rourke? Try the long-delayed “Killshot,” which finally hits theaters this week. Diane Lane and Thomas Jane play a married couple in witness protection who are being tracked by a killer (Rourke) and his young sidekick (Joseph Gordon-Levitt). (Opens Jan. 23)
Music
Is there a better whistler than Andrew Bird? He accompanies most of his sadly sweet tunes with one of the most in-tune whistles you’ve ever heard. And that’s just one of his instruments; he also plays violin, guitar, mandolin and the glockenspiel. This perfectionist is back with his latest CD, “Noble Beast.” (On sale Jan. 20)
New Pornographers' frontman, Carl Newman, releases his second solo album, “Get Guilty.” One of the finest purveyors of indie pop, Newman’s solo efforts have a Ray Davies-Kinks sensibility and fun, toe-tapping music with intelligent, heartfelt lyrics. (On sale Jan. 20)
