Heather Locklear charged with DUI

The charges stem from a Sept. 28 arrest in Montecito, Calif.

Heather Locklear has been charged with a misdemeanor driving under the influence of prescription drugs, Access Hollywood has learned.

The charges, filed Monday by the that the Santa Barbara District Attorney’s Office, stem from suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance in Montecito, Calif., back in September.

A rep for the Santa Barbara District Attorney’s office told Access there was no alcohol or illegal narcotics in Locklear’s system, only prescription medication.

Specific details on which medications she had taken could not be revealed, due to privacy laws.

As previously reported by Access, the actress was arrested by the California Highway Patrol on Sept. 28 and released the following day.

The “Melrose Place” star was reportedly pulled over by a CHP officer on Saturday afternoon after she was witnessed “driving erratically” upon leaving a parking lot, a CHP spokesman told the Associated Press.

Heather was taken into custody, where she was reportedly tested for alcohol and drugs. She was reportedly booked at 7 p.m. on suspicion of driving under the influence of prescription medication.

Locklear’s arraignment is set for set for Jan. 26 in Santa Barbara Superior Court.
