VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Seven people died in a plane crash on a remote island off British Columbia's south coast on Sunday.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Center in Victoria confirmed seven of the eight people on board the Grumman Goose amphibious airplane have been found dead. It's the second deadly crash for Pacific Coast airlines since August.

The center's Lt. Margeurite Dodds-Lepinski said the survivor walked away from crash and was found by the Canadian Coast Guard on the beach of Thormanby Island.

Pacific Coastal Airlines vice president Spencer Smith said the survivor was a passenger. He said the pilot, who was among the dead, was quite experienced.

Smith said the company will cooperate fully with investigators from the Transportation Safety Board.

Coast Guard and Search and Rescue crews started scouring the area of Thormanby Island, off British Columbia's Sunshine Coast north of Vancouver, after a resident reported hearing an aircraft in distress Sunday morning.

Not long after the report of a potential crash, the rescue center received a call from an official with Pacific Coastal Airlines, reporting that one of its planes was missing.

In August a Pacific Coastal Airlines' Grumman Goose crashed on Vancouver Island and killed five people. Two survived.
