Mayer happy to have Aniston in his life

NEW YORK - After over a month of speculation, Jennifer Aniston finally confirmed during a visit to “The Oprah Winfrey Show” that she and John Mayer are dating again. And Thursday night, the couple stepped out in public, hitting Gold Bar in New York.

Before that though, Mayer supported his pal Alicia Keys, who was hosting her fifth annual Black Ball AIDS benefit at the Hammerstein Ballroom. On the red carpet, Access Hollywood found out that Aniston wasn’t far from Mayer's thoughts. In fact, he said he had a few things to correct about Aniston's visit to “Oprah.”

“Let me just tell you that Jen is a huge liar and we are having twins,” the musician joked.

Aniston denied any pregnancy on “Oprah,” a rumor fueled by the tabloids.

“Jen, are you pregnant or what?” Winfrey asked during a taped sit down on Wednesday, which aired Thursday.

“No,” Aniston replied.

Mayer's joking aside, he told People magazine Thursday night that he is thrilled to have the former “Friends” star in his court.

“It’s really nice to have somebody in life have your back,” he said. “That girl knows me ... So, whether I go to bed alone or not, to have somebody who knows you in this world, that’s a really nice thing.”

In related news, Mayer also addressed rumors he is gearing up to host his own television show.

“There are rumors,” he told People. “I’m going to keep them rumors for the time being. I want everything to be as baked as possible before it comes out of the oven.”

But though some reports have suggested Mayer plans to host a variety style talent show, he seemed to hint any future television endeavor would take another path.

“It would be nice to go back to a form of entertainment that doesn’t involve judging and criticizing. I’d like to entertain people with their phones down,” Mayer said. “It’s time to watch TV and be entertained by great artists without having to have a say in it.”
