Congratulations to Kyle Sherman of Manhattan Beach, Calif. His photo, taken on Yosemite National Park’s Glacier Trail overlooking Yosemite Falls, received the most votes in this week’s “It’s A Snap” photo contest.

Sherman took the picture in late May. While the view was stunning, he said the weather was what made the shot.

Sherman’s day hike covered several temperature zones — “hot to warm to cold to freezing” — and “started in snow, then sleet, then sunshine, then sleet and snow again,” he said.

Even more impressive, he adds, was his 7-year-old daughter making it through the 9-mile hike. “She was a trooper.”
