DARLINGTON, S.C. - Investigators said a 14-year-old South Carolina boy was charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of his mother and unborn sister she was carrying.
Authorities said 35-year-old Sherryle Terry was shot several times Sunday night. Coroner Todd Hardee said she was eight months pregnant. Hardee said the girl she was carrying also died in the shooting at their home in Darlington in central South Carolina.
Prosecutor Jay Hodge said the boy faces two murder counts because the baby could have lived outside the womb. He said he will seek having him tried as an adult.
Darlington County Chief Deputy Tom Gainey said the boy's 12-year-old sister was shot in the neck but is expected to survive.
Gainey said the boy had not been in trouble with the law before. Deputies have no motive.
