If you haven’t seen Britney Spears’ new video for “Womanizer,” a song from her upcoming album “Circus,” here’s all you need to know: Spears’ wardrobe fluctuates from the scantily clad variety to none at all.

When Spears isn’t shown naked and writhing in a steam room, she’s fired up, repeatedly chanting the word “womanizer.” Another time, she’s embroiled in a photocopier fight scene with one of one of the fetching subjects of the song’s title.

So what’s this really about? One source close to Spears says that she’s really trying to get the “old Britney” back.

“The whole time she was doing that disastrous House of Blues comeback tour in 2007, she was just desperate to be the sexy, famous Britney that she knew she used to be,” says the source. “Every part of her healing process has been about getting back to that place.”

In the video, Spears definitely appears to be in top physical form, something that’s not hard to notice since she appears mostly naked.

“She’s lost a total of 25 pounds over the last several months,” says a source who’s helping her with her fitness routine. “She’s losing about two pounds a week, which might be a little much, but she’s never looked so good in her life.”

Her routine, according to the source? “She’s taking Nutrition 53, she’s working out, she’s grounded.” (Nutrition 53, interestingly, is the supplement backed by Bill Romanowski, the former NFL linebacker).

Spears has been spotted occasionally wearing a red Kabbalah string again. Is she getting back into the religion? “It’s hard to say. At any given time it seems like half of L.A. has a red string on their wrists. I wouldn’t read too much into it,” says the source.

Wahlberg not amused by ‘SNL’ sketch
It’s understandable to think some might have been too distracted by the Tina Fey/Sarah Palin sketches on “Saturday Night Live” to make it to the “Mark Wahlberg Talks to Animals” sketch from the Oct. 4 show.

Scoop on McCain’s ‘Late Night’ plans
Oct. 13: Courtney Hazlett says John McCain and David Letterman are ready to make nice and Sarah Palin could still show up on ‘SNL.’
During an interview with the New York Post, Wahlberg says, “It wasn't like Tina Fey doing Sarah Palin, that's for sure. And ‘Saturday Night Live’ hasn't been funny for a long time. They’ve asked me to do the show a ton of times. I used to watch it when Eddie Murphy was there and Joe Piscopo and Bill Murray. I don't even know who’s on the show now.”

Eva Longoria Parker still a size 0
Cheryl Burke of “Dancing With the Stars” fame isn’t the only celebrity having to defend herself when it comes to weight. Eva Longoria Parker is doing the same, and she speaks to Allure magazine about it in the magazine's new issue.

“Every magazine is tearing me apart,” she says. “I never went up a size, I just got rounder. I’m still a size 0.”

Longoria Parker also talks about not feeling beautiful when she was growing up.

“I didn’t have a boyfriend," she says. “My sisters were so mean to me. They used to say I was adopted, and ‘we picked you up at the hospital. You were the extra baby that day.’ ”

Weekend box office
A talking dog was more appealing to theatergoers than Russell Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio. “Beverly Hills Chihuahua” came in first place at theaters last weekend.

It earned another $17.5 million; “Body of Lies,” the DiCaprio/Crowe flick which was expected to give “Lies” a run for its money made $13.1 million and came in third place behind “Quarantine.”

“Quarantine,” a low-cost horror flick, was the surprise opening of the weekend: It made $14.2 million and there was little marketing behind it.

But back to “Chihuahua:” The AP quoted Disney’s head of distribution, Chuck Viane, as saying that many of the theatergoers are adults looking for a laugh, sans kids.

“This is only word-of-mouth coming back to us from theaters. I don't have any statistical proof. But they're telling us we're getting more unaccompanied-by-children adults coming on their own. They're looking for a little entertainment.”
