The Autumn Splendor package includes two Colonial Williamsburg admission passes (a value of $58), accommodations, and breakfast daily. The lowest rate of $100 per room per night is based on a stay at the Governor's Inn. But there are other hotels offering this package: Williamsburg Woodlands Hotel & Suites from $164 per room per night, Williamsburg Lodge from $274 per room per night, Colonial Houses from $294 per room per night, Providence Hall Guesthouses from $376 per room per night, and Williamsburg Inn from $548 per room per night.

The Convention & Visitors Bureau of McHenry County—about an hour's drive northwest of Chicago—has a few packages to facilitate a fall getaway. For example, Country Inn & Suites-Crystal Lake is offering a Family Date Night package that covers accommodations, four movie passes, breakfast daily, and a pizza and a pitcher of soda at a local restaurant. Be sure to visit the world's largest corn maze while you're in the area. This year, the 28-acre maze has a bipartisan political theme, with both the GOP's elephant and the Dems' donkey represented.

When: Packages are available on an ongoing basis; the corn maze is open through Oct. 31, 2008.
