As Blair Waldorf on “Gossip Girl,” Leighton Meester has perfected the art of playing an uptight Park Avenue teen queen. But Meester’s talents lie beyond just making us love to hate her each week on the hit CW show.

As she told Access Hollywood at New York Fashion week, she is gearing up to record an album.

“I am, yeah,” she said. “Technically, yeah I am. I mean, for real this time… I’ve always done (music), just now I am actually doing an album that I plan to release.”

While she has plenty of television experience thanks to “Gossip Girl” as well as guest parts on “Entourage,” “CSI: Miami” and “Shark,” Meester told Access making an album provides an alternative artistic outlet.

“It’s so cool because it’s a completely different creative process,” Meester said. “From beginning to end it’s yours and you make it… You can see the finished product. It’s sometimes hard when you’re acting to be like, ‘Oh, I see the finished product right before my eyes.’ So it’s cool you’re there from start to finish when you are writing.”

In a life-imitating-art scenario, during her guest spots on “Entourage,” Meester plays blond preening pop star Justine Chapman, who often has her eye on star Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier).

But Blair fans don’t need to worry that Meester will leave the Upper East Side for the pop world. Meester is thoroughly enchanted by “Gossip Girl.”

“There’s so much drama it’s really crazy,” she enthused of her show. “They’re just really taking it over the top, like juicy and scandalous because that’s ‘Gossip Girl.’ That’s our show.”
