Tim Gunn say of Miley Cyrus: “(She) is just a little too tarty, forgive me. I don’t want her to look like she’s going into a convent school, but it’s just a little too much for a 15-year-old.”

DENVER - Tim Gunn recently weighed in on Katie Holmes’ look, saying he “can’t explain it,” and now he’s chimed in on Miley Cyrus.

“(Miley Cyrus) is just a little too tarty, forgive me. I don’t want her to look like she’s going into a convent school, but it’s just a little too much for a 15-year-old. If I didn’t know better, I’d swear she was 25,” Gunn told OK! magazine.

Gunn also expressed some dissatisfaction with the current season of “Project Runway.” (Full disclosure: Yours truly is among those who are for the first time bored with “PR.”)

“They walk around telling each other how great they are, and I keep saying to them, ‘Someone is gonna go home,’” Gunn told the magazine.

He also hints that Stella might not be long for the show. “We have Stella and her ‘leatha,’” he says. “She’s got to get away from that, and she’s constantly defending, ‘That’s what I do.’ Then you’re nothing but a one-note. You better get prepared to pack your bags.”

Convention rumor mill
Since the last day of the Democratic National Convention is upon us, it seems fitting to take some time to clear up some of the week’s most compelling rumors.

A few high-profile network newsmen — ones you wouldn’t peg for fans of Jessica Simpson — were overheard talking about spotting Simpson taking in a late dinner in Denver on Aug. 26. Is it possible she followed her pal Eva Longoria out to the convention?

“She’s definitely not there,” her rep clarified. The alleged spotting was confusing because Simpson has traditionally aligned herself with the Republican party. As for being here just to pal around with Longoria, a Simpson source says, “They really aren’t even that close. There’s no way she’d go to Denver just because Eva was.”

Also, sorry folks, but George Clooney won’t be making it to the Mile High City. Many were speculating that he could be a surprise guest at the Aug. 29 Vanity Fair party, but his rep, Stan Rosenfeld, insisted “he was NEVER going. Anyone who says otherwise is clueless.”

The Venice Film festival, where Brad Pitt’s new film “Burn After Reading” premiered Aug. 27, is a festival worth preening for, but the lengths to which Pitt has reportedly gone may be a bit much.

Us Weekly is reporting that Pitt “indulged in two Decléor facials within one week,” according to one of their sources. Another Pitt source, while unable to confirm the facials, says that “Brad has always taken really good care of his skin. He’s used to getting teased for it.”

K-Fed celebrates with Shar Jackson
Kevin Federline attended the birthday party for his ex, Shar Jackson, at Blush Boutique Nightclub in Las Vegas on Aug. 22 and that was enough to get tongues wagging about the two getting back together.

“Kevin and our entire family hang out,” Jackson told In Touch. “I don’t know why people are always so shocked. We have kids together — we are going to see each other for the rest of our lives. It’s just how it is. Might as well make the best of it and be friends.”

“Shar and Kevin were very affectionate,” an onlooker tells In Touch. “They clearly still get along great.” In addition to Blush, they were seen at Tao Beach, Tao and Privé in Las Vegas.

Glamour chats with Michelle Obama
In the November issue of Glamour, Tonya Lee Lewis caught up with Michelle Obama. The resulting interview, “Michelle Hearts Hillary,” sheds some light on the relationship the two have. Obama told Lewis, “I have sought out (Clinton’s) advice, because one of the things I respect most about her, in addition to her professional accomplishments, is that she has raised an amazing daughter. Chelsea Clinton is kind and smart and capable and confident, she is everything I would want my girls to be.” The rest of the interview can be found online.
