More flooding expected in soaked South Texas

McALLEN, Texas - Flood watches and warnings are in effect for extreme southern Texas after more than a week of heavy rain.

Authorities say the town of Roma on the Rio Grande got 4 more inches of rain Sunday, reflooding areas that had begun to dry out and chasing some people to shelters for the night.

It's only been a week since the town got more than 13 inches of rain, and the region is still waterlogged from Hurricane Dolly in late July.

The National Weather Service says as much as 4 inches more could fall on the region Monday. The weather service has posted a flood warning in the Laredo area and flash flood watches in nearby counties.

Roma's police and fire chief Jose Garcia says this is the area's rainy season "but not this much."
