MILWAUKEE - A woman celebrated her birthday by helping her teenage son rob two gas stations, police in Wisconsin said.

The 37-year-old woman acted as the getaway driver while her 17-year-old son robbed the stations at gunpoint, said officers in the Milwaukee suburb of Greenfield.

The pair were in custody Wednesday awaiting charges, authorities said. Their names were not released.

The teen was visiting from Chicago for his mother's birthday, police said.

The woman's 13-month-old daughter and two boys, ages 10 and 14, also rode along during the robberies in Greenfield and Milwaukee, police said.

Greenfield Deputy Inspector Bradley Wentlandt said the younger children have been turned over to child welfare.
