WASHINGTON - Doctors say a biopsy shows no evidence of cancer in the skin removed from Republican presidential candidate John McCain's face.
"The biopsy that was performed did not show any evidence of skin cancer. No further treatment is necessary," Michael Yardley, a spokesman for the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona, said in a statement Tuesday.
The Republican presidential candidate had a small patch of skin removed from his face on Monday and biopsied as part of a regular checkup with his dermatologist.
The Arizona senator, who suffered severe sun damage from his 5 1/2 years in Vietnamese prison camps, has survived three bouts of melanoma that included four lesions.
