LONDON - Amy Winehouse may be suffering from a skin condition, and regularly appear with smudged makeup and a cigarette in her mouth, but she’ll always look spot-on at Madame Tussauds.

With the help of Amy’s parents, Mitch and Janis Winehouse, the popular London wax museum unveiled a picture-perfect copy of the petite singer on Wednesday.

After the unveiling, Mitch spoke to UK morning show GMTV, where he joked he would prefer the wax version to his troubled twentysomething daughter.

“We just said we’re going to take this one home with us and send the real one back,” Amy’s father said.

Mitch said he was glad a wax figure of Amy was in the museum, in the music division, as it transcended the trouble she has faced recently such as drugs, police questioning and the incarceration of her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil.

“What I like about this particularly is it’s two swords of actually being able to kind of transcend that negative publicity and she’s here in her own right… for her achievements,” Mitch said. “As a family we’d like to thank them very much.”

Mitch also took the opportunity to update the public on his daughter’s condition.

“She’s doing OK. You know, she’s doing well, she’s getting a lot better, she’s getting a lot stronger, she’s putting on a lot of weight, she’s eating, and she’s concentrating on her new album now, so she’s doing pretty well,” he added.

He said Amy is disappointed though that her husband remained in jail after being sentenced earlier this week for assault and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

“She’s obviously sad that Blake didn’t come out the other day, but we were prepared for it and she was prepared for it, because we knew that that could have happened, and it did happen… Now she knows he’ll be out in December so things will be ready for him then,” he said.

When asked if Amy was off drugs, Mitch said his daughter was clean.

“Absolutely, she’s doing very, very well,” he said.

In related news, the British tabloids have reported Amy is hoping to have a family following Blake’s release from jail.

“I’m as speechless as when I saw this statue the first time,” Mitch said when the GMTV presenter shared the report. “That would be great — it would be great to be grandparents… I mean obviously if Blake cleans up his act, as I’m sure he will do, they’ll have a wonderful life together and we can look forward to being, you know, a happy family.”
