It should come as no surprise that bongo-loving Matthew McConaughey served not just as birthing coach, but also as DJ as his girlfriend Camila Alves brought their son Levi into the world.

The new family gave their first post-baby interview to OK! magazine, and McConaughey spoke in detail about the labor and delivery, beginning with Alves' water breaking the morning of July 5.

“We called the doctor,” McConaughey told the magazine. “He said to come on down and see him and that we might be able to go home in the afternoon. I made a pot of coffee, she took a shower, her water broke some more. We giggled and laughed.”

After their light-hearted morning, the couple arrived at the hospital, and that was where Camila's contractions — and the dancing — began.

“Contractions started kicking in, and we found a great rhythm,” McConaughey told OK! “We had a 14-hour session, her and I did. I sat there with her, right between her legs. We got tribal on it. We danced to it. I was DJing this native Brazilian music.”

McConaughey got to have Levi to himself just after his birth, he tells the mag. What special bonding took place between father and son?

July 23: Courtney Hazlett reports on Matthew McConaughey's revelations about the birth of his son and how the actor danced and dj'd during the 14-hour labor.

“I had him for the first 15 minutes because they had to take care of Camila,” he relates. “I said, ‘Come here, little man.’ I saw the pecker and screamed that we’d been right all along about him being a boy. Then I brought him over to her.”

Cameron Diaz seeks psychic’s advice
Psychics aren’t just for the Jolie-Pitts or Drew Barrymore — Cameron Diaz has reportedly visited one, too.

Us magazine reports that the star visited Barrymore’s sage, Mrs. Grace, at West Hollywood’s Psychic Tea Leaf Readings. Diaz brought along her “What Happens in Vegas” co-star Lake Bell and the two sought “guidance and to know what’s up ahead.”

Mrs. Grace told the magazine that she saw “marriage and kids” and a “beautiful future” for Diaz and her beau, model Paul Sculfor.

Sherri Shepherd on life before Christianity
Sherri Shepherd hasn’t exactly been shy during her first year as a co-host of “The View,” but her latest interview with the magazine Precious Times still comes as a shock to many.

“Before I converted to Christianity, I was a Jehovah's Witness," Shepherd told the magazine. “In 1993, my mother was dying from diabetic complications. My sister was heavy into drugs, and we would have to go and get her from crackhouses. I was in a very physically abusive relationship. I was sleeping with a lot of guys and had more abortions than I would like to count.”

A source close to Shepherd says the actress doesn’t regret the interview, even if it might be off-putting to some.

“Sherri is nothing but true to herself,” says one source close to the host. “She knows that people will think what they want to, but it’s not going to keep her from speaking her mind.”

‘Office’ games update
I’m compelled to report on any beet-eating contest that takes itself seriously, especially if it has the slightest connection with “The Office.” On July 19, the most hardcore of “Office” fans joined Mindy Kaling  (a.k.a. Dunder-Mifflin's Kelly Kapoor) for “The Office Games.” The event involved a fun run, trivia contest, and, to honor Dwight Schrute's favorite crop, a beet-eating contest, with participants diving into bowls filled with sliced beets and their juice. Kaling gave it a stab and emerged from the bobbing attempt red-faced with a slice of the root vegetable lodged between her teeth. “That was disgusting, I wish we had picked corn instead of beets,” said Kaling.
