CHICAGO - Former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Bill Murray has agreed to parachute from a plane as part of a special appearance at the Chicago Air and Water Show next month.

A spokeswoman for the Mayor’s Office of Special Events says the 57-year-old actor is jumping on behalf of USO of Illinois.

The Chicago native will tandem jump with the Golden Knights skydiving team onto North Avenue Beach on August 15th.

It is the 50th anniversary of the popular show on Chicago’s lakefront.

Murray received an Oscar nomination for his role in “Lost in Translation.” His screen credits also include the “Ghostbusters” movies, “Caddyshack” and “Groundhog Day.”

Other celebrities with Chicago roots who are participating include Gary Sinise. He is scheduled to perform with his band Lt. Dan Band.
