NATO soldier killed, 4 wounded in Afghan blast

Roadside bomb targets patrol in area with heavy U.S. troop presence

KABUL, Afghanistan - A coalition soldier was killed and four others were wounded in a roadside bomb blast in eastern Afghanistan, NATO said on Tuesday.

The soldiers were on patrol in the eastern province of Kunar when the blast struck Tuesday.

It did not release the nationality of the dead soldier. Most of the foreign troops in the area are American.

Separately, a provincial police chief says five insurgents and two policemen died during a clash in central Ghazni province.

Khan Mohammad said seven other militants were wounded during the Tuesday battle in Muqur district.
