CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Customs officials at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport have seized more than 11 pounds of hashish that was concealed in wooden clothes hangers.

Officials said Monday that agriculture specialists with U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized the hashish, with a street value of about $144,000, on Wednesday.

Officials said agents became suspicious when they found an unusual number of hangers in a passenger's luggage.

Since three people were traveling as a group, the officials then searched the other passengers' luggage, finding more hashish.

The passengers are in custody awaiting prosecution.
