LOS ANGELES - Her wedding may have taken place in secret, but Mariah Carey is now happily sharing the details of her nuptials with Nick Cannon.

In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres (scheduled to air on Tuesday), Mariah fleshed out the details of her beachside ceremony, but not before explaining the rock she has been sporting was designed by Nick himself.

“We designed each other’s rings,” Carey told DeGeneres.

The couple, who married in the Bahamas, kept the news of the wedding secret from even their guests, who came down to the island expecting something else.

“We were telling everyone it was a video shoot,” Carey told DeGeneres. “He pretty much did the secretive stuff that I wasn’t aware of … but I did say (to the media) we are doing a video shoot, figuring that we might end up doing that — (getting married).”

Carey and Cannon married in a ceremony on the beach, attended by just a handful of close friends and Carey’s hairdressers. The couple avoided inviting too many people to keep the ceremony intimate and avoid the paparazzi factor.

“It wasn’t a lot of people because we wanted to be on the beach and we didn’t want other people taking pictures,” she said. “We both experienced the hoopla of trying to make something a publicity stunt, which is what everybody thinks, and will think anyway, but we don’t really care about that. Instead of trying to be like, ‘You’re invited, but, shhh! Don’t tell anybody,’ we’re just going to have another (wedding) next year.”

In fact, the couple won’t just stop at one more walk down the aisle.

“His plan is to have one every year,” Carey enthused.

And the couple may have a trip to the hospital maternity ward in store eventually. Carey answered a resounding “Yeah!” when DeGeneres asked if she would like to have children with Cannon.

“I always said … if I found the right person who I felt would be on the same page as me in term of raising kids and having the same belief system and not having one parent going, ‘Don’t do this!’ and the other one’s going ‘This is the best!’” Carey said. “I’ve always had a weird thing about it because my parents divorced when I was 3 and I didn’t have many examples of what was the ‘norm.’”
