Deputies investigating fatal Stevens County shooting

STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. - Sheriff's deputies are investigating a fatal shooting that killed a 53-year old Stevens County man Saturday.

Deputies got a call about the shooting around 11:00 a.m. and responded to a home in the 4700 block of Highway 231, south of Springdale.

They arrived to find a male victim with a single gunshot wound to the chest. Deputies helped care for the victim until EMS personnel arrived, but the victim died at the scene from his injuries.

Officials say their preliminary investigation indicates the shooting was accidental.

An autopsy is scheduled for next week, as the investigation into the incident continues.
