Rebate problems

Another group of people got their government rebate checks. Some say they're waiting to see the money deposited into their account before spending it. Others say it's already been factored into their budget.
Kathi Wolf runs a daycare center out of her home in Greece, and says her rebate check is a perfect excuse to get out of the house.
"We have a little extra money. Lets go use it for a vacation, something we don't normally get to do," says Wolf.
Banking on the fact that they were getting a $1,500 rebate check, Wolf and her husband pre-paid for a family vacation in July.
One problem: The wolf's did get their check, but it wasn't the amount they thought it would be.
According to the IRS guidelines, the Wolf's qualified for $1,500 rebate. They filed jointly, which is supposed to be $1,200, and they have one child, which means they're supposed to get an additional $300. But what they got: $1,093.
After going through the fine print, and all the possible deductions, the Wolf's say none apply to them.
"There's no reason there should be almost $400 taken out. I just don't know what the reason is," says Wolf.
The IRS says in many cases, rebate deductions have to do with back taxes, debt, school loans or other outstanding bills.
The Wolf's say they have none of those issues, so the IRS has agreed to speak with them on Monday to thoroughly examine what's happened in their situation.
The first round of paper checks were mailed out today and will continue through July 11th, just like direct deposit, you'll receive your check based on the last two digits of your social security number.
