FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif. - Investigators seized dozens of suspected counterfeit Louis Vuitton, Coach, Fendi and Gucci handbags and wallets Friday from the home of a Foothill Ranch woman who sold the items over the Internet and via private appointment, authorities said. The raid began at 28 Beaulieu Lane about 10:30 a.m., and during that time, about 200 items, including purses, wallets and allegedly counterfeit Tiffany necklaces and bracelets, were crated up as evidence and carted off, said Jim Amormino of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
The divorced mother who lives in the home was not arrested, but sheriff's investigators plan to present a case to the Orange County District Attorney's Office, which could result in felony charges against her, Amormino said.
Because she was not arrested, her name was not released.
The woman came to the attention of investigators hired by the legitimate merchandisers, who troll the Internet and swap meets to ferret out illegal sales, Amormino said.
The woman was contacted by a representative of Louis Vuitton three years ago and told to stop selling knock-offs, but she continued to do so, Amormino alleged.
One bedroom in the home had been turned into a showroom, with shelves lining the wall, he said.
"We believe the shipments originated in the Far East to New York to Orange County," Amormino said.
