COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - On Friday morning the Kootenai County Sheriff's Department identified the man that was killed during what authorities are calling a rape and homicide incident on the north side of Hayden Lake.
According to authorities, David Lynn Foreman, of Rathdrum, died of apparent stab wounds after attacking a woman just before 5:00 a.m. on Thursday. Deputies responded to the area of Hayden Lake Road and Hayden Creek Road after a woman said she had been raped and stabbed by Foreman.
According to the woman, she fought with Foreman and was able to stab him. She then left the scene in his vehicle in order to contact authorities.
Captain Wolfinger of the Kootenai County Sherrif's Office said the woman did not have cell service and drove a distance down Hayden Lake road trying to call 911. She eventually stopped at a house where she was able to call deputies.
The woman, whose name is not being released at this time, was treated and released at Kootenai County Medical Center.
Authorities continue to investigate this case as Captain Wolfinger says, "Investigators will continue putting all of the pieces of this case together over the next several days."
