SPOKANE, Wash. - A Registered Nurse will speak about her recent resignation, and other Nurses from Deaconess Hospital will discuss unsafe staffing conditions at a press conference this Friday at the Red Lion River Inn.

Since the layoffs of more than 80 staff in March, more than 30 nurses who provide bedside care have resigned their positions as a result of unsafe staffing conditions at the hospital. Increased workloads and job responsibilities have resulted in less time to meet patient needs.

Nurses and caregivers have formally registered their complaints with the hospital about staffing and patient care conditions, and they are now preparing reports about unsafe staffing to present to the Washington Department of Health.
