DELAWARE, Ohio -- NBC 4's Matt Alvarez reported that a Marion City Schools bus and a semi truck were involved in an accident on U.S. Route 23 at the intersection of State Route 229 at 6:50 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Tilda Schofield, 63, of Marion was driving a 1996 International school bus southbound on U.S. 23 and stopped at a stoplight. Kevin Lemons, 43, of Dry Ridge, KY, was driving a 2006 International tractor trailer southbound and was behind the bus.
The light changed to green, and the bus was struck in the rear by the tractor trailer as the bus began to proceed through the intersection.
The bus was carrying four Marion City Schools students at the time of the crash. Names and medical conditions of the students were not released.
Schofield and all four student passengers were transported to the Marion General Hospital as a precaution.
Lemons, who was uninjured, was cited for failing to maintain an assured clear distance.
