TV guild begins talks with studios

Negotiations beginning as bargaining between SAG, studios break off

LOS ANGELES - The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists has opened negotiations with Hollywood producers on a new contract.

Talks between the union and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers began Wednesday, a day after the alliance temporarily broke off separate bargaining with the larger Screen Actors Guild.

Producers called SAG’s demands on DVD sales and online content “unreasonable.”

SAG responded in a statement by saying the producers’ decision to end talks after 18 days was unfortunate.
