Lindsay Lohan’s mom, Dina Lohan, is being honored as mom of the year. Yes, you read that right. Dina, who fancies herself “the white Oprah” and recently considered her 14-year-old daughter, Ali, her plus-one in Vegas, has been named one of the “Top 20 Long Island Mothers of Celebrities” by Mingling Moms, a Long Island-area organization.

Dina is scheduled to attend to pick up her award in person May 6, a decision that comes as no surprise to those who know her. “A shot at more publicity? Please. Of course she’ll be there,” said a source who has known the Lohan family for years.

Other moms being honored include Jennifer Lopez, Carol Baldwin (mom to the Baldwin brothers) and former “Karate Kid” Ralph Macchio’s mom, Rosalie. The source said that Dina is taking her award quite seriously. “With her reality show, this couldn’t be better timing, especially from a publicity standpoint,” said the source.

Scarjo engagement conspiracy theory
People magazine broke the news of Scarlett Johansson’s engagement to Ryan Reynolds, and the Web site D-Listed chimed in with our favorite conspiracy of the day. The engagement, according to the Web site, is conveniently timed with Johansson’s record release: “Anywhere I Lay My Head,” a collection of Tom Waits covers, is due to drop May 20.

Cynical, yes, but given Mariah Carey’s equally well-timed engagement and/or marriage rumors, it’s not too difficult to see why someone would think publicity is in play.

Celebs pitch in for Myanmar and Darfur messages
Celebrities often give money to charities that support causes that concern them, but it’s nice to see them giving their time as well.

Ellen Page recently taped a video message for the Campaign for Burma, and Felicity Huffman is on deck to tape a similar message. However, the Human Rights Action Center holds out hope that Huffman will use the time to send a message about the need for aid in Myanmar, too.

Zack Braff has been giving his time as of late. The “Scrubs” star recently recorded a message for Genocide Intervention Network’s 1-800-GENOCIDE hotline. Mia Farrow and Chiwetel Ejiofor have recorded messages, and other celebs have been approached as well.

America Ferrera
will be hosting this year's Hot in Hollywood charity event on Aug. 16. Emily Deschanel, Eric McCormack and Beckie Newton are expected to lend support too. Poppy Montgomery partnered with 1-800-Flowers.com for her visit to Children’s Hospital LA on May 5. The “Without a Trace” star provided the kids there with card-making kits and flowers so they could make cards for their moms in time for Mother’s Day. Eduardo Verástegui is in New York City promoting the May 6 DVD release of his film “Bella.”
